Business Community Ready to Celebrate in May 2024
We are excited to share that Gerry Price, CEO and Chairman of Price Industries, has been announced as the 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) recipient.
This award, presented by the Associates of the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, recognizes individuals who demonstrate global entrepreneurial excellence. Since its institution in 1984, IDEA has honored business executives who have achieved international success and have meaningfully contributed to the economy in Canada or abroad.

Gerry will join the list of other notable recipients, including Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post (2018); Chip Wilson, Founder and Chairman of Lululemon Athletica Inc. (2013); and Howard Schultz, Chairman and Chief Global Strategist of the Starbucks Coffee Company (2004).
Gerry became President of Price Industries in 1986 and, in the true spirit of entrepreneurship, purchased the company with his wife, Barb Price, and embarked on an ambitious expansion into the ultracompetitive US market. Over the next 38 years, his leadership took Price from $30 million in annual sales to more than $1 billion, establishing a presence around the world and building a team of more than 4,500.
And his impact extends beyond the business world and the HVAC industry; through the Price Family Foundation, Gerry and Barb are both generous philanthropists, supporting charitable endeavors benefiting healthcare, communities and education.

The 2024 IDEA Dinner will take place on May 30, 2024, in downtown Winnipeg, where the local business community will gather to celebrate Gerry’s receipt of the award. Manitoba’s “dinner of the year” is sure to be especially memorable on this occasion, as 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the event.
