Price is celebrating its 75th anniversary throughout 2024, and our commemoration of this milestone will dedicate special attention to the 13 tenets of the Price Way. Each post in this blog series explores one of these guiding principles, giving our blog readers a closer look at its meaning.
In this post, we’ll be looking at what team, humility and “no ego” culture mean at Price.

Throughout the entire Price organization, all our accomplishments are team accomplishments. Price has a “no ego” culture where we each contribute our best individually to the team win, celebrating new ideas and successes wherever they come from. We maintain our humility by remembering our roots as a small company.
In the words of Gerry Price from his presentation on the role of the leader, “It is the great leader who solves the crisis of the day, without hesitation seeking input from his or her team members and other leaders in finding the best solution that keeps customers and the company whole.”
This humble, listening approach applies everywhere at Price – especially to the front line. These talented individuals illustrate how powerful true teamwork can be as they continually achieve success by committing to the good of the group.
“I've found that the best way to drive positive change is to get out onto the plant floor and connect with the people there. They are the experts on what it takes to make our day-to-day successful,” said Chief Operating Officer Aaron Schoonbaert, emphasizing the reciprocal nature of this aspect of Price’s culture. “And by demonstrating this trust, we create the right environment for finding the real opportunity for improvement and implementing the correct solution.”
Effective leaders start with humility, releasing any sense of ego in an effort to build trust with their teams. It is this releasing of ego that allows leaders to listen to everyone in the organization – frontline staff, customers and other leaders – to collectively grow the business.
