What is System Effect?

Posted by Price Industries on September 10, 2019 at 9:47 AM
In duct design and installation, system effect is the generation of higher than expected pressure drops through changes in duct direction or geometry. It can also be caused by improper installation of  fittings, which result in excessive, unanticipated turbulence in the airflow. In short, system effect is the installed pressure drop which is different from the design pressure drop.

Inlet Effects

ASHRAE Standard 70 guidelines are in place so that ideal conditions are present during GRD testing
and to ensure the testing is repeatable. It is important to note that the performance
published in the Price catalog is based on these ideal conditions outlined in ASHRAE 70 and that
any field modifications can affect the performance of the outlet. There are five common field conditions and their influence on the air pattern of a given diffuser:

Low Temperature Air Distribution

Posted by Price Industries on August 13, 2019 at 8:59 AM

Low temperature overhead air distribution (also called cold air distribution) supplies cooling air to the occupied space with an entering air temperature typically between 40°F and 50°F [4.4 and 10°C]. This contrasts to the “typical or conventional” overhead air distribution cooling supply air temperature between 50°F and 59°F [10 and 15°C].
