A Look at the Technology Inside Price’s Ceiling Air Purifier
The patent-pending Ceiling Air Purifier (CAP) by Price is the perfect combination of performance, aesthetics and efficiency. Simply replacing a 2-by-2-foot ceiling tile, the CAP is a stand-alone unit that can easily be integrated into a space – without any modifications to the existing HVAC system – and is independent of all building controls. Multiple diffuser faces are available to seamlessly fit in with the design intent of the surrounding area. The unit is discreetly contained above the ceiling for quiet operation at any of the three adjustable motor speeds.

The CAP utilizes a HEPA filter, which can remove 99.97% of airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns, and optional bipolar ionization and/or UVC light to improve the quality of the air in the room. It comes in a variety of configurations based on the application it is intended for. Some applications include educational facilities, retail stores, restaurants, office buildings, outpatient healthcare spaces and banks. The CAP can provide two air changes per hour (ACH) for spaces of up to 500 square feet, with the ACH varying depending on the square footage and application.

The unit also comes with an integrated motion sensor. When motion is detected, the product will turn on and run continuously for two hours before shutting back off; this shutoff time can be manually programmed for job-specific requirements. To make sure the CAP is running at optimal performance, an LED shows the condition of the filter and if it needs to be replaced. A green light indicates the filter is clean, yellow indicates a new filter should be ordered and red indicates the filter needs to be changed. The premium-quality HEPA filter in conjunction with the motion detector allows for a filter life of more than a year for most applications.

The modern built environment is expected to provide premium indoor air quality and maximum energy efficiency. The CAP optimizes these goals by filtering room-side air. Furthermore, its configurable construction allows for quiet operation and architectural flexibility, making it an ideal air-filtration solution for building owners, consulting engineers, architects and occupants.
