Price’s ever-growing team is made up of extraordinarily talented individuals from different backgrounds. We periodically profile a “person of Price” to give you a glimpse at the person behind all those emails or the voice at the end of the phone! This post: Jordan Enns.
Price Industries: What is your current title and role at Price Industries?
Jordan Enns: I’m currently Product Manager for the Critical Environments team. In this role, I have the privilege of working with our design engineering, technical sales, field support and customer service teams to bring new products to market and support to our customers.
I also spend a significant portion of my time developing marketing and educational content for Critical Environments – you may recognize me (or at least my voice) from the many Critical Environments videos and webinars that I’ve participated in over the years.
PI: How long have you been with Price Industries, and what other roles have you worked in since you started?
JE: I joined Price in November 2015. My first role was in the Marketing department as a Marketing Manager, where I had the opportunity to work with almost all the different Price product families.
In 2018, I narrowed my focus to Critical Environments, with the introduction of Ultrasuite and the UltraTour mobile showroom, and gradually took on more engineering-focused work under the guidance of David Surminski, General Manager of Critical Environments. For a time, I worked within the applications engineering team, eventually moving into the role of Product Marketing Manager, then Technical Director of Healthcare and Indoor Air Quality, and Product Manager of Healthcare in late 2022.
One of Jordan's favorite projects was the development and launch of the UltraTour mobile showroom |
PI: What was the career path that brought you to Price, and what was it about Price that inspired you to join this team?
JE: I took a bit of a convoluted path to where I am today. I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 2014. I worked in a few engineering roles (both manufacturing and product design) immediately after graduation that had me questioning my decision to become an engineer. I was considering going back to school to change career paths when I found a job posting for a Marketing Manager position at Price. This role would allow me to combine my creative side with my engineering background to help bring Price products to customers everywhere.
Greg Loeppky, Vice President of Marketing, was willing to take a chance hiring an engineer into the Marketing department, and I started my career at Price! Now I’ve found myself back on the engineering side of things, and because I love it, I still spend a lot of time on marketing and education initiatives for the Critical Environments team.
PI: How did you find yourself in your current area of specialty – was it a lifelong interest and aptitude, or did it evolve later in life?
JE: This is where most people in the engineering field say that they “loved Lego for their entire lives” or “disassembled toasters as a child,” but that’s not me. I did well in school, specifically in math and science, but my passion lies primarily in creative activities such as doing art and DIY projects, spending time outdoors, and being active.
That said, I have always had a passion for teaching, which is why I love participating in and developing content for our Price training programs. I spent time tutoring throughout school and became a certified yoga instructor a number of years ago.
Jordan can’t get enough of the great outdoors, which includes raising some wooly four-legged friends on her acreage |
PI: What are some industry developments that you’ve seen in your time within the field that have changed the way you think and work?
JE: In the healthcare industry, the shift toward integrated systems, specifically for hospital operating rooms, has been phenomenal. The drive to provide not only modular, preassembled products that reduce on-site installation time but fully packaged solutions that incorporate air distribution, lighting, structural support and controls keeps us pushing our Ultrasuite development and product offering forward.
Since 2020, there has been a huge focus on products designed to improve indoor air quality. The ability for Price to rapidly shift priorities and provide essential products on quick timelines has certainly made me appreciate our dedication to supply chain stability, in-house product development and testing, and service mindset.
PI: What is your favorite project you’ve worked on in your time in the industry?
JE: It’s very much a love-hate relationship, but my favorite project has been building the UltraTour. It was such a unique marketing project and ultimately something that the Critical Environments, Marketing and Events teams are proud of. It certainly has seen its fair share of challenges through the years, but that also means we have a lot of great stories to tell!
In recent years, I’ve been able to spend more time on product development projects and am very excited to have worked on the Ultrasuite +Climate system with a number of product teams at Price, including Critical Environments, Antec Controls, Fan Coils and Noise Control.
Jordan and her husband, David, welcomed their first child in June 2023 |
PI: What do you feel is the biggest contribution you have made to the professional community?
JE: I think the biggest contribution that I make to the professional community is the time that I spend on training classes and educational materials such as blog posts, videos, webinars and the Engineer’s HVAC Handbook update that was released in 2023. I love both preparing the materials and having the opportunity to spend time with our reps and customers when they visit Price.
